The material on this website originally was from O.:S.:M.: lectures, rituals and classes. The rest of the material is from my experience practicing this system. I have arbitrarily attributed copyright to the O.:S.:M.: even for material I wrote years after I left that organization. The head of the O.:S.:M.: left this plane of existence in 1988. I do not know if the O.:S.:M.: is still a functioning body, or not. I have not had any contact with any of the members in over a decade. I have shared some of these papers with others in the intervening years. Most people have found them to be both baffling, and interesting.
I have thought long and hard about publishing this material. On the one hand, it probably is a copyright violation. I'll deal with that issue, if and when it arises. On the other hand, there is the Oath of Secrecy I swore, when I took my Zan Initiation.
Is there any justification for violating that Oath? That is a matter of ethics. Crowley wrote Mystery is the enemy of Truth. On a personal level, I believe that the greatest truths can be displayed openly, and ignored by all, except those who are both ready and willing to recognise them. The most effective way to keep a secret, is to display it openly. Hide things in plain sight.
The Buddhist ethic is that anything which one does, which does not propell one forward, on the path of Enlightment, is a Sin. The basis of Thelemic ethics, is that Restriction is Sin. Daoist ethics hold that anything which is not harmonizing the heaven and the earth, is to be avoided. Jewish ethics would leave it up the individual, after an exposition that looks at a hundred other issues.
The Eastern Mystical Tradition is littered with manuscripts that have been written by one individual, and attributed to another. The Western Magickal Tradition is one of plagarized manuscripts whose scribe claims to be providing original material.
A review of the source material of the Western Magickal Tradition, shows that when secret material was published, it occured under one of the following circumstances:
Prior to my leaving the O.:S.:M.:, the O.H.O. initiated many discussions with me, about writing a book about the practices, rituals and experiences of those who persued the path of knowledge that the order offered. This site reflects the experience of one individual --- an individual who could hardly be described as its best adherent.
Ever since I left the O.:S.:M.:, I have had mixed emotions about publication of this material.
A Wiccan tradition would find it more useful.
